Seagate 6TB hard drive next year

According to the latest leaked roadmap, Seagate is not only 5TB, but will also come up with 6TB this year! It's just an enterprise-level product (when the Western Digital is consumer-grade).

According to the roadmap, Seagate will launch a 5TB hard drive in the second quarter of this year and rush to 6TB in the second half of the year. They are all part of the Constellation ES.3 series (development codename Megalodon Giant Shark), which are located in the Enterprise Capacity and Enterprise Value markets, respectively, are all 3.5-inch models. The 2.5-inch series will expand to 2TB at the end of this year, which is twice the current level.

However, they do not know how much their single-disc capacity will be. At present, the 3.5-inch disc has a maximum capacity of 1TB, but it is still not fully mature. The 4TB hard disk is still using a single disc of 800GB and five discs.

5TB using five-disc down is also ok, but 6TB six-disc can not imagine, so the single-disc capacity should certainly be greater than 1TB, at least have 1.2TB (five-disc), 1.5TB of course, even better (four-disc ).

TDK announced a major breakthrough in TAMR technology last year. It can achieve 3.5-inch hard disk single-platter 2TB, 2.5-inch hard disk single-disc 1TB, so that you can easily achieve three-disc 6TB 3.5-inch hard drive. It seems that Seagate's discs are mainly from Showa Denko, but TDK's breakthrough is the use of Showa Denko's storage media materials, and it will be mass production next year ... ... then there is no need to say more.

In addition, Hitachi’s Hitachi’s Hitachi has also recently announced that it has the technical strength of a single-disc 2TB, but it is still far from mass production.
