What are the types of inductors?

Inductors are a commonly used electronic component. When the current passes through the wire, a certain electromagnetic field is generated around the wire and an induced electromotive force is generated in the wire in this electromagnetic field—a self-induced electromotive force. We call this effect electromagnetic induction.

In order to strengthen electromagnetic induction, people often wind the insulated wire into a certain number of coils. We call this coil an inductor or an inductor. >Inductor, simply called an inductor. The characteristics of an inductor are exactly the opposite of those of a capacitor. It has the property of preventing AC power from passing through and allowing DC power to pass through smoothly. The resistance of the DC signal passing through the coil is the resistance drop of the wire itself is very small;when the AC signal passes through the coil, self-induction electromotive force will be generated at both ends of the coil, self-induced electromotive force. The direction of the applied voltage is opposite to the direction of the applied voltage, which hinders the passage of the AC, so the characteristics of the inductor are DC and blocking, and the higher the frequency, the greater the impedance of the coil. The inductor often works with the capacitor in the circuit to form an LC filter. , LC oscillator, etc. In addition, people also use the characteristics of the inductor to create a choke, transformers, relays and so on.

Types of inductors: According to the shape, inductors can be divided into hollow inductors (air core coils) and solid inductors (solid core coils). According to the nature of work, inductors can be divided into high-frequency inductors (various antenna coils, oscillation coils) and low-frequency inductors (various choke coils, filter coils, etc.). According to the package form, inductors can be divided into common inductors, color ring inductors, epoxy inductors, chip inductors and so on. According to the inductance, the inductor can be divided into a fixed inductor and a tunable inductor. In high-frequency electronic equipment, a special shaped copper skin on a printed circuit board can also constitute an inductor, which is usually referred to as a printed inductor or a microstrip line. The microstrip line is usually represented by the symbol shown in Figure 1 in the circuit schematic. If it is only a short thick black line, it is called a microstrip line; if it is a two parallel short thick black line, it is called as Microstrip line coupler. In the circuit, the function of the microstrip line coupler is somewhat similar to a transformer, which is used for signal conversion and transmission, sometimes also referred to as a transformer.

In electronic devices, we can often see that there are many magnetic loops and connecting cables to form an inductor (wires in the cable wound around the ring as an inductor coil), which is a commonly used anti-interference element in electronic circuits. High-frequency noise has a good shielding effect, it is known as the magnetic absorption ring, because it is usually made of ferrite material, it is also called ferrite magnetic ring (referred to as magnetic ring). In Figure 2, the upper part is an integrated magnetic ring and the lower part is a magnetic ring with a mounting clip. The magnetic ring has different impedance characteristics at different frequencies. In general, the impedance is very small at low frequencies, and the impedance of the magnetic ring increases sharply when the frequency of the signal increases. Everyone knows that the higher the signal frequency is, the easier it is to radiate out. The general signal line is not shielded. These signal lines become good antennas and receive all kinds of random high-frequency signals in the surrounding environment. These signals are superimposed on the originally transmitted signals and may even change the useful signals originally transmitted, severely interfering with the normal operation of the electronic devices. Therefore, reducing the electromagnetic interference (EM) of the electronic devices is an issue that must be considered. Under the action of the magnetic ring, even if a normal and useful signal passes smoothly, high-frequency interference signals can be well suppressed, and the cost is low.
