Gartner: PC shipments in Europe fell by 16.3% in the fourth quarter

Gartner's latest report shows that in the fourth quarter of 2011, PC shipments in Western Europe were 16.3 million units, down 16.3% from the same period in 2010, and the total PC shipments in Western Europe were 58.5 million units, a 16.3% decrease from the same period in 2010 .

PC shipments in this market have declined for four quarters in a row. Meike Escherich, principal analyst at Gartner, said that although PC makers take active price cuts, consumer interest is still on other electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets. Computer and e-book readers, even if prices continue to decline, the overall PC shipments have been unable to reach the level of the past few years.

Among them, the PC markets of Italy, Greece, Portugal and Spain suffered severe impact in the fourth quarter of 2011. The annual PC growth demand experienced a negative growth of 30% or more, while the mobile PC market experienced a decline of 17.5% in the fourth quarter. The desktop PC market in the region also fell by 12.1%.

In terms of rankings, HP's shipments in the fourth quarter of 2011 decreased by 15.7%. HP's PC shipments in Western Europe remained at the top. Its gap with Acer increased and its shipments reached 3.61 million units. In the same period of 2010, 4.29 million units slipped 15.7%, but the market share remained stable at 22%, and the second Acer continued to show a recession. The quarterly shipments were 2.18 million units, a 46% decline from the same period in 2010, and the share ratio fell to 13%.

Asustek third, shipments of 1.88 million units, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%, is the only one among the top five manufacturers. Dell’s slowdown in demand from large companies and the public sector caused shipments to decline, with shipments of 1.72 million units. , year-on-year decrease of 9.5%.

Escherich pointed out that Asustek has successfully turned its products from small notebooks, and its growth rate of shipments is also better than the market average. Lenovo's shipment growth was partially affected by the acquisition of Medion, Germany.
