Panasonic plans to expand its European LED lighting business with a sales target of 15 billion yen in 2015

Recently, at the press conference of "Light+Building 2012" at the International Lighting and Construction Technology Exhibition held in Frankfurt, Germany, Matsushita announced that it will expand its LED lighting business in Europe and plan to achieve a sales target of 15 billion yen in 2015.

According to some surveys, LEDs currently account for 13% of the European lighting market and will expand to 45% by 2016. Panasonic Europe believes that the European LED lighting market will expand rapidly as environmental awareness increases. Panasonic's sales of LED lighting products in Europe in 2010 were 3 billion yen, and it is expected to reach 5 billion yen in 2012, and the plan for 2015 will be expanded to 15 billion yen.

Panasonic Eco Solutions emphasizes the expansion of LED lighting products. In July 2011, the company launched an LED bulb with a transparent glass lampshade, equivalent to a 20W ordinary bulb, and its design has been well received. In order to increase sales, this time we released a product equivalent to a 40W ordinary light bulb.

Panasonic's share of the LED lighting market is currently ranked third in the global market. Japan's domestic market accounts for the highest proportion of sales, at 80%, followed by the European market. In addition to the 40W product, other new products will be launched in 2012, and plans to expand the product line to 11 in 2011. For example, in the Panasonic exhibition area of Light+Building 2012, a prototype product equipped with a dimming function for a 40W product using a transparent glass lampshade is planned to be put on the market in 2012.
