Qualcomm One VR VR VR Experience Exceeds HTC Vive

When we talked about VR, almost no one first thought of Qualcomm. Actually, this processor maker has been paying attention to VR dynamics.

At today's IFA 2016 Electronic Fair, Qualcomm brought us an all-in-one VR device called the Snapdragon VR820. As the name suggests, the Snapdragon VR820 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

In terms of hardware, Snapdragon VR820 is equipped with two AMOLED screens, 1440x1440 resolution, 70Hz refresh rate, dual front camera and four microphones, supporting Fluence HD active noise reduction.

The Snapdragon VR820's dual front camera enables spatial tracking and gesture tracking, all without the need for external sensors and hardware.

We are fortunate enough to experience Snapdragon VR820 at the IFA site. Let's share some demo experiences with you.

We experienced the official demo on site and it felt great. When we were swimming underwater, we encountered a very friendly squid. We didn't need to use any handles or cables during the visit. Without the shackles of the cable, the freedom is higher.

In the course of the experience, no errors were encountered and no traces of delay in tracking were found. As a result, the delay of 18ms was very strong. Best of all, the 4K resolution provided by the Snapdragon VR820 makes the picture very clear and sharp, even exceeding the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in this respect.

However, it is a pity that the official Demo can only watch and cannot interact, so we have no way to know how it is tracking the gesture. The appearance of Snapdragon VR820 actually looks cheaper and larger, after all it is just a reference device.

Snapdragon VR820 is not a consumer-oriented device, it is used as a reference device, the purpose is to allow more people to join the ranks of producing excellent VR hardware, but also like the developers show Qualcomm's strength in the VR industry.

In terms of overall performance and experience, Snapdragon VR820 as an all-in-one machine may not be able to replace PC VRs such as HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, but it will be difficult to say later.

Snapdragon VR820 advantages:

- 4K screen is very clear and sharp

- Excellent space tracking ability

- Full wireless

Disadvantages:

-Demo is simple

- Use as a reference device only
