Classic racing game "Redout" VR landing on Steam

Redout made its debut at this year's E3 show. This work was developed by the Italian team 34 BigThings. At the time, it released some concept maps and preview videos. It also landed on the Steam platform on September 3rd.

The developer 34 BigThings tries to combine the immersive experience of virtual reality to create a science fiction racing game similar to "F-ZERO" and "anti-gravity racing." Redout's floating systems and driving modes are based on physical design, faithfully restoring the sensory experience of movements such as steering, sprinting, and impact. The scene of Redout is also very stunning. The planets covered with dunes, the cool breeze of the coast, and the frozen land are all created by Unreal Engine 4.

Redout currently supports 12 players online, and is compatible with oculus rift, htc vive, Razer OSVR three virtual reality heads. In the career mode of the game, the player can race with the AI and upgrade the relevant components of the racing (ship) by rewarding the reward. Redout built 6 different racing teams with different styles, 20 tracks scattered in 4 large scenes, 7 game modes including survival mode and racing mode, and the overall elements are quite rich.

In addition, players can also upgrade the racing system. Components such as EPP and FRD can help the car to realize its potential and achieve better results. Redout only supports stand-up (sit) gameplay. The VR Headshot HTC Vive's room tracking function is not of much use here, and the manipulation is done through the keyboard (traditional handle).

Although Redout's price is as high as $100 on Steam, considering the overall quality of the game and the praise of the media and players, it is indeed worth the price.
