Samsung brought S9 strong back to MWC Xiaomi officially unveiled at MWC

Digital enthusiasts who follow the tech world are no strangers to MWC. This year, major international brands such as Samsung and Sony are expected to unveil their flagship devices at the event. Not only will we witness this year’s top smartphones, but also gain a glimpse into the future of the communications industry.

Based on the latest information available, we’ve compiled a forward-looking summary of what to expect at this year’s MWC, helping you stay ahead of the curve with the latest product releases.

三星 Galaxy S9: A Strong Return to MWC

As one of the most anticipated flagship launches at MWC, Samsung has a long tradition of unveiling its S-series phones there. Last year, due to certain circumstances, the S8 was not released at MWC, but this year, the S9 is making a strong return, signaling Samsung’s confidence in both its products and market recovery since the Note7 incident.

According to current reports, the S9 will bring several new innovations. In terms of design, early leaks suggest that the S9 retains the same overall look as the S8, but with some subtle refinements. The bezels have been narrowed further, and the mid-frame appears slightly more pronounced, along with thicker glass for better drop resistance.

One notable feature is the variable aperture camera. The rear camera will support F1.5 and F2.4 aperture adjustments, allowing the phone to adapt to different lighting conditions—just like the W2018 model.

In terms of hardware, the S9 will be powered by either the Snapdragon 845 or the Exynos 9810. The Exynos 9810 has already been tested on Geekbench 4, scoring over 3,648 in single-core and 8,894 in multi-core, surpassing the Snapdragon 845's performance. This makes it one of the most powerful Android chips currently available.

Other features include 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, an 8MP front camera with autofocus, iris recognition, wireless charging, IP68 waterproofing, and AKG-tuned speakers. The release date is set for March 16th, with four color options: midnight black, lilac violet, titanium gray, and coral blue.

Sony Xperia XZ Pro: 4K Display & Black Technology

Sony is also making waves at MWC with the Xperia XZ Pro, which is expected to feature a 5.7-inch 4K display and a Snapdragon 845 processor. It will come with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, and will support IP68 waterproofing and dust resistance.

The Xperia XZ Pro will also feature a dual-camera system with 18MP and 12MP sensors, each with large pixel sizes (1.38μm and 1.33μm), offering impressive photo quality. The device will be available in three colors: liquid black, liquid silver, and dark green, priced at 699 euros.

Additionally, the Xperia XZ2, an evolution of the XZ1, will also be unveiled. It will feature a 18:9 full-screen display, Snapdragon 845, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Early benchmarks suggest it will perform similarly to the Snapdragon 845, confirming its powerful specs.

Sony is also preparing different memory configurations, including a 6GB version exclusive to the Asia-Pacific region, catering to users seeking higher performance.
