Recently, Datang NXP, a subsidiary of Datang Telecom, successfully obtained the ISO 26262 process certification from TUV Nande Shanghai. This marks the third certification achieved since the project's initiation. The evaluation focused on the conceptual phase of the process, along with related procedures and documentation. According to the TUV Nande Shanghai team involved in the audit, Datang NXP has established a correct and compliant process for ISO 26262 functional safety certification. They have also developed appropriate templates for the concept phase, and all required documentation for this stage has been completed.
The ISO 26262 standard, introduced in 2011, is the primary international standard governing the safety of road vehicles. In today’s automotive industry, an increasing number of safety systems are adopting this standard, especially in the field of safety control for new energy vehicles. As the automotive sector continues to evolve, compliance with ISO 26262 has become essential for companies aiming to meet global market demands.
The Datang NXP ISO 26262 project was launched in October 2015, making it the first company in China's automotive semiconductor industry to pursue this certification. Over the past two years, with support from external consultants and internal R&D teams at TUV Nande, Datang NXP has developed a comprehensive functional safety program at the company level. This initiative aligns well with the company’s strategic goals. The project has successfully completed key stages such as concept analysis and FMEDA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), resulting in a total of 19 documents that ensure smooth progress and proper alignment with ISO 26262 requirements.
Implementing the ISO 26262 functional safety development process certification will enable Datang NXP to better meet the rigorous international automotive electronics standards. It lays a strong foundation for the company to position itself as a leading player in the global automotive semiconductor market. With this achievement, Datang NXP is not only strengthening its technical capabilities but also enhancing its credibility among international clients and partners.
