Recently, Datang NXP, a subsidiary of Datang Telecom, successfully obtained the ISO 26262 process certification from TUV Nande Shanghai. This marks the third major certification achieved since the project's initiation. The evaluation focused on the conceptual phase of the process, along with related procedures and documentation. According to the TUV Nande Shanghai team involved in the audit, Datang NXP has now established a proper and compliant process for ISO 26262 functional safety certification. They have also developed appropriate templates for the concept phase and completed all necessary documentation, demonstrating strong alignment with the standard.
The ISO 26262 standard, first introduced in 2011, is widely recognized as the primary international benchmark for ensuring the functional safety of automotive systems. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, especially with the rise of electric and autonomous vehicles, more and more safety-critical systems are adopting this standard. In particular, the field of safety control in new energy vehicles has seen significant reliance on ISO 26262 to ensure reliability and compliance with global safety requirements.
The ISO 26262 project at Datang NXP was launched in October 2015, making it the first company in China's automotive semiconductor sector to pursue this certification. Over the past two years, with support from external consultants and internal R&D teams at TUV Nande, Datang NXP has developed a comprehensive company-level functional safety program that aligns with its strategic goals. The project has successfully completed key steps such as concept analysis and FMEDA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), resulting in the creation of 19 essential documents. These efforts have ensured smooth progress and laid a solid foundation for future development.
The successful implementation of the ISO 26262 certification not only strengthens Datang NXP's ability to meet rigorous international automotive electronics standards but also positions the company to compete more effectively on the global stage. With this achievement, Datang NXP is well on its way to becoming a leading player in the automotive semiconductor industry, both in China and beyond.
