As consumer demand for premium products grows, OLED TVs are becoming more appealing, especially in markets like China, where the penetration rate of ultra HD TVs has reached 57.7% in the first half of the year—far exceeding the global average.
However, OLED TVs still face challenges. According to Liu Buchen, an industry analyst, high prices and limited production capacity remain significant barriers. The supply chain for OLED panels is still underdeveloped, and by 2020, global OLED TV panel capacity is expected to reach 10 million units—only 4% of total global TV sales. This highlights the need for further investment and scaling in production.
Despite these hurdles, the future of OLED looks promising. As the technology matures and more companies enter the market, the OLED TV segment is expected to grow significantly. With increasing consumer demand for premium, high-quality products, OLED is well-positioned to become a key player in the evolving TV landscape.
