The decision to select Guangdong as a test region is well-founded. The province already has a strong foundation in the development of ultra-high-definition television. Major companies such as Skyworth, Konka, TCL, China Star Optoelectronics, and Huawei have established a complete industrial chain covering chips, panels, and finished products, making it easier to implement 4K solutions.
Currently, the Guangdong Broadcasting System has laid a solid foundation for large-scale development of 4K ultra-HD TV services and has achieved initial success. As of June 30 this year, there were nearly 5.642 million 4K TV users in Guangdong. The province can now provide 1,362 hours of 4K programming, accessible through cable TV, IPTV’s 4K test channel, and 4K on-demand services.
Moving forward, this 4K resource collaboration model is expected to be expanded nationwide. In the near future, consumers won't have to worry about buying a 4K TV that goes unused. The era of 4K is truly upon us.
