Sony China President: Color TV is not simply pursuing market share

President Hideyuki Kurita of Sony (China), who took office in April this year, made his debut at a press conference for Sony 4K TV on the 30th. He said that Sony TV's loss-making process is faster than the timetable. Sony TV will not simply pursue market share in the Chinese market.

"Sony China has made important contributions to sales and profits. I hope to continue to enhance the Chinese market's strategic position in Sony's global operations chain." Said Kurita Toki.

TV is Sony's loss-making "hard-hit area." Kurita Tomoki revealed that the earnings report for the quarter (April-June) showed that sales of Sony's electronics business have declined, but the loss has also significantly eased. "In particular, the loss of the television business is reversed faster than the timetable."

In the past few years, the price of color TVs has continuously declined. Sony's 84-inch 4K (Ultra High Definition) television product released on the 30th was priced at more than 100,000 yuan. Kurita Sakura said frankly, “In contrast to the past, we are not simply pursuing market share and sales volume, but we are pursuing a more rational product line. In addition to cost reduction, we have also exerted great efforts in providing product value.”
