Hong Hongjie believes that the end consumer is eager to experience the presence of the picture, and the demand for TVs with larger screens is more eager. However, in the past, 1,920 & TImes; 1,080 high-resolution panels have been unable to cater to the resolution of screens larger than 50 inches Requirements, so 4K × 2K ultra-high resolution LCD panels will replace it as the mainstream of the large screen market of more than 50 inches. It is expected that 4K × 2K ultra-high resolution LCD panels will become market opportunities for various panel manufacturers to compete.
In view of this, AU Optronics has planned to focus the firepower of its high-end product line on more competitive 4K × 2K ultra-high resolution LCD panels next year, which is expected to become one of the main profit sources. Hong Hongjie pointed out that in order to increase the added value of AUO's TV LCD panel products, it will force the ultra-narrow bezel and ultra-thin 4K × 2K ultra-high resolution LCD panel product line to actively grab the market.
Facing the rising market demand for 4K × 2K ultra-high resolution LCD panels, Honghongjie emphasized that AU Optronics will avoid damaging the market of 4K × 2K ultra-high resolution LCD panels too quickly, plus the high manufacturing cost of 4K × 2K panels Therefore, the proportion of initial products is still less than 10%, and the proportion of shipments will be gradually increased in the future.
As for the mass production plan of AMOLED TV panels, Hong Hongjie revealed that AU Optronics expects to have the opportunity to introduce small-scale production of AMOLED TV panels in 2014.
