I. Introduction
Since the second half of 2011, under the influence of the unstable global economic environment, China's semiconductor lighting industry has been significantly affected. Enterprises of all sizes have experienced certain difficulties. In some areas, corporate bankruptcy has also occurred. Many of them are well-known enterprises with a certain scale in the industry. Concerns about the short-term market prospects have become widely discussed by experts, scholars and business operators in the industry. However, in addition to this, the author believes that there are two more things worthy of our attention: First, the Japanese patent lawsuit of Yiguang Electronic Patent Infringement case, after more than four years of tug-of-war, finally ended with billions of light wins; second, the five giants The signing of the patent cross-licensing agreement was completed, and a solid patent alliance was established. This alliance covers most of the world's core patents and most of the valuable peripheral patents. The impact of these two things may be far-reaching compared to the short-term market outlook due to the economic downturn.
With this victory, Everlight Electronics will continue to sell its products, and downstream customers will be more recognized for its products and technologies. In fact, in the case of a low market, competition will become more intense, and the role of patents will become more prominent. Only those technologies and products with independent intellectual property rights can gain greater market share. In the long run, Yiguang Electronics may even realize mutual authorization of patents in certain areas with Nichia or other companies; the five giants are establishing patent alliances.
