According to the survey of the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute (GLII), the installed amount of LED street lamps in China totaled 530,000 baht (excluding tunnel lights) in 2011, a year-on-year increase of 51.4%. It is estimated that the installation volume in 2012 will reach 850,000 baht.

The survey of the high-tech LED industry research institute found that the LED street lights installed in 2009 have been basically replaced. Some of the installations in 2010 have been replaced. The technical defects have caused some LED street lamp companies to suffer and also give LED street lights. Caused a great negative impact. However, for LED street lights, all walks of life believe that the future is bright, so there is a relatively high expectation for the LED street lamp market this year.
In 2011, the domestic LED installation volume was 530,000 baht, which was in line with the expectations of the Gaogong LED Industry Research Institute at the beginning of the year. Although the current LED light source or drive, compared with the previous two years, the technology and performance have been greatly improved, but there are still defects in the main technical indicators, heat dissipation, light failure and other issues are still not very good. Solved, and the price is still at a relatively high level compared to traditional light sources. These factors are the bottlenecks that are difficult to break through in the promotion of LED street lights at this stage.
The GLII survey also found that local protectionism is widespread in the promotion of LED streetlights. Therefore, some inferior products are not excluded, which also has a very bad impact on the marketing of LED street lamps.
In May this year, the second batch of 16 “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†pilot cities were approved, indicating the government’s determination to promote LEDs. The GLII survey found that not only the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†pilot cities, other non-pilot cities have begun to try LED street lights, or have already developed LED street lamp promotion plans. However, the speed of promotion is still very cautious. The LED street lamp standards have not yet been introduced so far. The market is chaotic, the products are mixed, the prices are huge, and the risk of blind promotion is too great.
EMC mode is considered to be the most ideal mode for LED streetlight promotion mode, but EMC mode is not recognized in China.
The GLII survey found that nearly 80% of enterprises do not recognize the EMC model, of which 42% are companies that do not recognize and have never adopted the EMC model to promote LED lighting products, and 37% of companies that do not recognize but have adopted the EMC model, and the EMC model is recognized. The company only accounts for 21%. The difficulty in applying the EMC model is mainly because the payback period is too long. From the perspective of the enterprise, the maintenance cost is too high in the later stage, and it is daring to guarantee its own quality for a long period of time; from the perspective of EMC, the input cost is too high and the risk is too high. This year, there are also LED streetlight projects promoted by the EMC model in China, but only a few. Another promotion model is the BOT model, which is still in its infancy in China.
From the perspective of enterprises, the main domestic LED street light companies include Jiangsu Shifu, Dajin Dongfang, Dongguan Qinshang, Zhongweiguang Electronics, Xiamen Xinda, Zhejiang Jingri and so on. Dajin Dongfang is definitely a group of dark horses for LED street lights this year. In July, Dajin Oriental Lighting signed a contract for the photovoltaic energy project with the Chongqing Municipal Government, with a project value of 300 million yuan. In the same month, it won the bid for Shenzhou Road, Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Dajin Oriental Lighting has not been involved in LED streetlights for a long time, but has successively won projects in Yangzhou, Chengdu, Tianjin, Lianyungang and Henan.
From the project point of view, this year's LED street light main projects include Dongguan Qinshang Shenzhen Jihe Expressway, Nanguang Expressway, Longda Expressway, Yanba Expressway Project, Philips Huaxi Avenue Project, and Dajin Zhengzhou Shenzhou Road Project. Dongguan Qinshang Shenzhen Expressway LED street light project is definitely one of the LED street light projects this year. The installation of LED street lights has reached more than 8,800.
From the perspective of urban promotion, Weifang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chongqing are cities where LED street lights are promoted faster. Shandong Weifang is currently the most successful city for the promotion of LED street lamps in China. The penetration rate of LED street lamps in the city has reached more than 95%.
