For small pitch products, as the dot pitch is reduced, the number of lamp beads is greatly increased, which poses a challenge to the reliability of small pitches. What is the reliability of current small pitch products? Is it possible to achieve the requirement of a small pitch for the lamp's "loss rate" of one-millionth? And to continue to improve the reliability of products, companies need to go in what direction?


At the beginning of small-pitch products, there are indeed many problems, such as dead lights, virtual soldering, gray-scale differences, and the first line of darkness. However, with the improvement of technology, system upgrade, and improvement of driver chips, the quality of small-pitch products is currently available. There has been a very high upgrade, and the market application is very mature, but there is still a long way to go before a millionth of the failure rate. Therefore, packaging manufacturers must first improve the packaging quality, reduce the non-performing rate; secondly improve the manufacturing process of small-pitch products; again, in the actual installation, handling process must be very careful, can not collide, especially in the leasing industry.

At present, the MBI5153 and MBI5155 accumulated have solved the problem of “high gray and high brush”, and there is still room for improvement in “low light”. At present, the display effect is better at 500-600 cd/m2, but the low ash effect is worse when the brightness is below 400 cd/m2.


As for the term "over-technology", I still can't agree with it at present. When small-pitch products can enter ordinary households, instead of the current LCD display, it is appropriate to talk about this.

Similarly, the small spacing of hundreds of thousands or even millions of lamp beads per square meter places higher demands on the service of small pitch manufacturers. Do you think this is a challenge? How should companies respond? Does your company have a better solution?


Small pitch products have many lamp beads. According to the current industry standard three-tenths of failure rate, there are more than 600 lamp beads on a high-definition screen. This number is unacceptable to customers. Therefore, to reduce the number of failed lamps and improve the quality of small-pitch products, firstly, the lamp bead needs to be controlled well, as long as the quality of the lamp bead can ensure the quality of the product; secondly, the production must ensure no such phenomenon as virtual welding or false welding.


The following are some detailed measures to improve the quality of small pitch products: a. Anti-static---Into the production workshop, you need to wear anti-static shoes, hand rub the static ring, enter the patch room to wear anti-static clothing; b. Add advanced equipment---If the 3D solder paste inspection equipment is added to the booth, the amount of solder paste on each pad can be detected to avoid the soldering of the solder balls and the false soldering of some solder pads.

c. Strengthen production control - strictly in accordance with the standard requirements, aging products, do vibration testing, maintenance records, never allow problems with the products out of the customer.

With the maturity of technologies involving small spacing, especially in the technology of lamp beading, the price of small pitch is gradually decreasing, and the profit margin is also narrowing. How do you think about the price of small pitch and the decline of profit? Do you think this is a long-term development trend?


As any technology matures, the profit margin will gradually narrow. This is the law of the market, but this will not affect the company's income. As long as the quality is guaranteed and the business volume is expanded, the comprehensive profit can be improved.

From the current market application, the small spacing is still "commercial is king." Do you think that the small spacing will develop in the civilian market in the future? How big is this market space?


In order to develop into the civilian market, the first thing to ensure is that the lamp bead cannot be broken, that is, the lamp bead failure rate mentioned above is controlled within one part per million. If this can be achieved, small distances into the ordinary family will be just around the corner. How big is the space in the civilian market? You can imagine the LCD TV in your home now.


Market segments

From the perspective of small-pitch products, small-pitch advertising machines, small-pitch TVs, and small-distance rental screens have sprung up. How do you view the development of these small-pitch "segments"?


The segmentation of small-pitch products is determined by the market demand. There is a market for demand. With the maturity of small-pitch products, these market segments will gradually appear in the eyes of the public. From the current development situation, their market share is still very large, such as airports, stations, supermarkets, advertising columns, etc. will be used.


Outdoor small spacing

Driven by small indoor spacing, outdoor small spacing has gradually developed in recent years, and has been widely used in the P4-P10 small-pitch market, and the minimum point spacing has also exceeded P4.0. Do you think that the small outdoor spacing will continue to develop in a smaller pitch? Are you optimistic about the development of outdoor small spacing?


As far as the current production process is concerned, the outdoor small distance breakthrough P4.0 should be the limit. If it is small, the glue filling process is difficult to solve, and the edge thickness problem of the bottom case is also difficult to solve. Of course, if there is a better production process in the future, it will not rule out outdoor products with smaller spacing.


At present, with the increasing demand for the definition of LED display screens, the development space of small-pitch outdoor products is still very large. At present, the mainstream outdoor small-pitch products should be between 5-7mm.


Small pitch and VR/AR

Due to the limited market size of the LED display industry itself, with the development of somatosensory interaction, virtual reality and other technologies, it is expected to be combined with small spacing to open up more application markets. Are you optimistic about the integration of somatosensory interaction, virtual reality and other technologies with small spacing? In addition, what is your opinion on the development of small spacing?


Before the big screen interaction is basically the way of projection. In recent years, with the maturity of technology, the application of LED interactive products has become more and more extensive. More and more, it is the interaction of floor tiles and wall screens. As a higher-definition LED display, small-pitch products are integrated into interactive applications, which is technically easier, but the small-pitch display is relatively expensive compared to projection, so “interaction” is only a small-pitch product. One of the functional requirements, in general, should not have a wide range of applications.


OLED challenge

As OLED technology continues to mature, OLEDs are bound to compete for the indoor LCD application market in the future. Do you think OLEDs pose a threat to small spacing? In addition, what challenges will the development of small pitches face?


The maturity of OLED products must first compete for the indoor LCD market. There is only a certain threat to indoor LED products, and OLEDs cannot completely replace indoor LED products because of the pixel variability, dot pitch variability and flexible screen size. Sex is hard to be replaced by OLEDs. In the future, the biggest challenge for small-pitch products is how to minimize the failure rate of LEDs, even without any dead pixels. Secondly, the price of small-pitch products, if the raw materials can be lowered, the price is lower, I believe many customers will use small pitch products.
