According to Reuters, Philips recently developed a 12W LED bulb. The bulb can last up to 25,000 hours, 25 times more than a traditional 60W incandescent bulb, and can save up to 80%. In the United States, for example, 60W incandescent bulbs can reach 425 million in this market, accounting for 50% of the incandescent market. Philips believes that if these incandescent bulbs are replaced with LED lights, they can save 32.6 terawatts per year, and these saved electricity can be used by 16.7 million home users.
According to Philips, the new LED bulbs use standard dimmers to create a soft light that makes the user feel more comfortable. General Electric has previously developed a 9W LED bulb that replaces a 40W incandescent bulb.
However, the price of LED bulbs is still an important factor hindering its popularity. It is believed that although the LED field is developing rapidly, it is still very difficult to complete the popularization within three to four years.
