[Abstract] Gridiron Lab is developing a football helmet equipped with AR display, which can display player information in real time during the game and can capture the game screen from various angles.
Tencent Digital (Wang John) is becoming more and more popular with smart products. Whether it is computers, mobile phones, automobiles, refrigerators, air conditioners, or toilets, it is constantly adding smart elements to make life more enjoyable and convenient. Nowadays, football helmets are also making fun.
For many years, football helmets have used padding rubber as the main material to ensure the safety of the players' heads.
Later developed to install the communication device in the helmet
So that players and coaches can keep in touch during the game
Develop different offensive defensive strategies for different situations.
Gridiron Labs is a studio created by veteran creative director Dane Storrusten, based in Los Angeles, USA.
Prior to this, he has worked with sports franchise operators of various sizes
But recently the studio launched a new project
In the next 10-15 years, football helmets using advanced technology will be promoted to help players further improve their performance.
This smart anti-shake football helmet was designed by a 19-year-old student
Storrusten believes that there are many manufacturers of football helmets
In addition to its role in protecting the safety of the head during the game
There should also be more extra features.
There are many helmets that are only considered for head safety
Of course, in high-risk sports like rugby, player safety is crucial
Safety is also the primary factor in Storrusten's design
But this helmet will be innovative in usability and brand
And the helmet is designed to be a wearable, connectable, smart device that enhances the player and fan experience.
In the project development, Storrusten's team used new materials such as graphene and nanocellulose.
Equipped with a compact, rugged, embedded HD camera
Add a variety of electronic devices to your helmet.
In the project it can be seen that this helmet also has many functions in addition to the protection function
Such as a head-up display, able to display other player information or health status
Equipped with intelligent ventilation system
Collision sensor
Built-in front and rear cameras are used to record real-time images at various angles during the game.
Having said so much, whether or not this helmet can really be used in a rugby game is still unknown. However, this is just a study based on the 2030 rugby movement, but Gridiron's laboratory will complete the production of concept products within the next six months.
Storrusten pointed out that the team is using prototypes to test digital display cases and head-up display masks. Although it is currently under test, helmet manufacturers are expected to gradually apply these technologies in the next decade.
However, one thing is certain, if Storrusten's prediction can become a reality, the rugby game will become more exciting and will give the audience an immersive feeling.
