Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced the launch of a wireless power receiver integrated circuit "TC7761WBG", which complies with the Qi Standard 1 low power specification version 1.1 defined by the Wireless Charging Alliance (WPC). The integrated circuit will be used in wireless power supply applications such as smart phones and mobile accessories. The product will be shipped in batches today.
Integrated circuits used in mobile applications such as smartphones are required to reduce heat generation to prevent overheating. "TC7761WBG" is manufactured using a joint CMOS-DMOS wafer process, which can reduce heat generation to 70% of similar products 2 while achieving 95% power conversion efficiency. The integrated circuit has a built-in protocol authentication circuit, no external microcontroller is needed, which helps to simplify the system.
