Without breakthroughs in key equipment, there is no foundation for independent innovation, and it can only be followed by others. Only by incorporating your own unique process technology into independent and innovative equipment can you make first-class products. Any innovative idea requires the cooperation of equipment, and only in this way can we make innovations.

The investment in the introduction of equipment from high-tech enterprises in China often accounts for 70% to 80% of the initial investment of the enterprise. If the equipment manufactured by China itself can be used, the cost is expected to gradually decrease, and the cost performance of the product can be improved. Of course, it is not easy to do LED equipment. In the past, there were many MOCVD manufacturers in the world, but after the continuous survival of the fittest, only Aixtron and Veeco were left. This has been formed after decades of competitive integration, and they have formed rich production experience and market experience.

With the boom of LEDs, more and more Chinese research institutions and enterprises are now entering the field of equipment development, and there are probably no fewer than ten. However, it should be noted that because a new company does not have enough production experience, it can only be copied at the beginning, not to mention the possible intellectual property issues, only the two key issues of equipment stability and marketization. Very difficult to solve. Because for a large chip factory, the price of equipment is only one of the factors to consider purchasing, to ensure the stability of production and the consistency of products are often more important, the yield of products after the start of production, the input of raw materials, the consumption of human resources, etc. They are also the key issues to consider. A new product suddenly launched by a new company has not been tested by enough time and is difficult to be accepted by the market.

In addition, the development of equipment takes a long time to accumulate and it is difficult to succeed in one or two years. Therefore, it is very likely that there will be huge investment in capital and energy, and it will not be too late to be introduced to the market. The technology has been upgraded. At present, the maximum capacity of domestically developed MOCVD equipment is 6 (48 GaN-MOCVD). However, as of December 2007, AIXTRON has introduced a 42-piece planetary reactor (AIX2800G4HT) and a CCS reactor 30-piece machine (CRIUS) in the latest MOCVD equipment introduced abroad. Due to the gap in production capacity, the production cost of epitaxial wafers for small batches of MOCVD equipment is relatively high. China's 863 program has been supporting the development of LED equipment for ten years, but this bottleneck has not yet broken through, showing its difficulty. Therefore, Chinese companies should be very cautious when they invest in equipment production.

Domestic MOCVD equipment is still in the technical tracking stage, and the level of equipment industrialization is not compatible with the production needs. Independent innovation needs to be strengthened, and the use of a slang in the stock market is that "the stock market is risky and needs to be cautious when entering the market." Here, it is said that "the domestic significance is big and the investment needs to be cautious."
