The Oculus Touch controller has been shipped, and Facebook's Oculus has now focused on the ability to feel the temperature of the user: the ability to feel hot and cold in the virtual reality experience.
Now, Facebook has produced a prototype with this feature in a recent internal hackathon, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the experiment live. The idea of this early project was to let the controller communicate hot or cold based on what happened in the VR to make the user's experience more realistic.
In the demonstration, the user's hand is close to the bonfire, the temperature will rise (the red ball increases) and feel the heat; when leaving the bonfire close to the refrigerator, the temperature will decrease (the blue ball becomes larger), thus feeling the coldness.
However, this is still some distance from the real implementation, but it seems that the prototype product left a deep impression on Facebook's think tank. Currently, YiVian is not sure if this will happen in the next generation of Oculus Touch controllers.
But don't worry, Mark Zuckerberg is not really hurt.
