The system consists of a cuff with an acoustic wave sensor installed inside and a computer. The sound wave sensor installed on the cuff detects the pulse and transmits it to the computer that analyzes the information.

Harrison and others have developed software that notifies which part of the arm is struck based on the waveform information, etc., by paying attention to the fact that the waveform and intensity of the sonic pulse change depending on the part where the arm and palm are struck. "If it is a fixed part of the arm and palm, there are less than 1 error in 20 operations. The error rate is comparable to the iPhone touch panel" (Harrison).

Skinput also separates the display function separately. The specific implementation method is to use a small projector and use the palm and arm as a display.

Skinput uses a projector to replace the mobile phone interface with a palm, etc. This is similar to the "Sixth Sense" developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The difference is that "there is no need to use a camera when using Skinput, and there is no need for image recognition and color identification, which is easier to handle" (Harrison).
