Green lighting project allows students to build awareness of energy conservation

In June 2005, the "General Office of the Beijing Municipal People's Government forwarded the notice of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission to accelerate the development of a circular economy to build a conservation-oriented urban planning plan and the 2005 action plan", clearly proposing to promote green lighting in the whole society, in Beijing Government agencies, subway stations, primary and secondary schools, and public toilets in the Second Ring Road all replaced high-efficiency lighting sources. To this end, the Beijing Municipal Government has included the replacement of high-efficiency lighting sources in primary and secondary schools in the city as “an important fact that was planned to be directly related to people's lives in 2006”.

At present, the city's 2046 primary and secondary schools, the city's 1,263 second ring road, public toilets have all installed energy-saving lamps, Beijing Metro Electromechanical Operation Company purchased 100,000 three-color straight tube fluorescent lamps and 40,000 compact fluorescent lamps, 70 subway lines The 114km tunnel of the station and the first and second lines, the thirteenth line and the eight line were replaced. The city's 54 government agencies, some hotels, commercial buildings, hospitals, etc. also used energy-saving lamps, and some units also installed lighting power savers, which have achieved significant economic, environmental and social benefits. According to the monitoring results, 1.8 million energy-saving lamps can save 39 million kWh of electricity, save electricity by 28 million yuan, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 38,700 tons, sulfur dioxide by 1,164 tons, and nitrogen oxides by 1,700 tons.

Beijing Guangqumen Middle School is one of the 60 exemplary ordinary high schools in Beijing. It is a good habit to call the whole school to turn off the lights and make people go out. Each class of audio-visual equipment switches in the classrooms is managed by a special person. The school implements green lighting projects, which are energy-saving, efficient, comfortable and safe for environmental protection. Before and after the implementation of energy-saving measures, the electricity consumption and expenditure of electricity in the whole school decreased by nearly 30% to 40%.
