With the continuous upgrading of LED product technology and the continuous introduction of new products, UL standards are constantly being updated according to new products and new technologies. The rapid growth of global Horticultural Luminaires farm lighting/plant growth lamps has penetrated the Chinese market. On May 4, 2017, UL released the first version of the plant growth lamp standard UL8800, which includes lighting equipment installed in accordance with American electrical law and used in horticultural environments.

Like other traditional UL standards, this standard also includes the following parts: 1, parts, 2, terminology, 3, structure, 4, protection against personal injury, 5, test, 6, nameplate and instructions.

1, structure

The structure is based on UL1598 compliance and needs to be as follows:

If the luminaire housing or baffle is plastic and the enclosure is exposed to sunlight or light, the plastic used shall have UV resistance (ie (f1)) according to UL1598 16.5.5 or UL 746C.

When connecting to a power supply network, you must connect according to the specified connection method.

The following connections are available:

Metal hose connection according to UL1598 6.15.2

Can be connected by at least the hard-service type (such as SJO, SJT, SJTW, etc., the maximum length can not exceed 4.5m)

Can be connected with a flexible cable with a plug (NEMA size)

Can be connected with a dedicated wiring system

When there is a structure in which the lamp is interconnected with the lamp, the plug and terminal structure of the secondary connection cannot be the same as the primary.

Grounding plugs, ground pins or inserts for sockets require a ground wire to be connected first.

2. Use environment

Must be Damp wet or Wet outdoor

3, IP54 dustproof and waterproof grade

The installation environment must reflect the use environment and require at least IP54 dustproof and waterproof rating (according to IEC60529).

When the environment in which the luminaire is used is a wet location (at least in an environment subject to rain or water splashing), that is, in an environment that is subject to rain or water splashing, and in a dusty environment, it is required to have a dustproof and waterproof rating, at least IP54.

4, the lamp can not emit light that is harmful to the human body

According to IEC62471 non-GLS (general lighting services), it is necessary to evaluate the biosafety level of all light waves within a distance of 20 cm from the luminaire and between 280 and 1400 nm. (The assessed photobiosafety level needs to be Risk Group 0 (Exempt), Risk Group 1, or Risk Group 2; if the replacement source for the luminaire is a fluorescent lamp or HID, there is no need to evaluate the photobiosafety level.
