Air Purifier GB is expected to be implemented in the second half of the year

The work on the revision of the GB/T 18801-2008 "Air Purifier" that has attracted much attention in the industry has made progress. According to Lu Jianguo, director of the Institute of Clean Technology at the China Household Electrical Appliances Research Institute, the standard is waiting for the final verification data to be released, and will be formally submitted for trial later, and it is expected to be implemented in the second half of 2015.

The revised content is comprehensive and complete

At present, China's air purifier industry has a total of four national standards, namely GB 4706.45-2008 "Special Requirements for Safe Air Purifiers for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances," and GB 21551.2-2010 "Antimicrobial and sterilizing for household and similar electrical appliances. Special requirements for purification functional antibacterial materials, GB 21551.3-2010 "Special requirements for antibacterial, sterilizing, and purifying air purifiers for household and similar electrical appliances" and GB/T 18801-2008 "Air purifiers". According to Lu Jianguo, the first three items are mandatory standards, and the safety standard GB 4706.45 is about to undergo a second revision. It is clearly stated or declared that materials with antibacterial, sterilizing, and decontamination functions and air purifiers must comply with the GB 21551 series of standards. “Although GB/T 18801-2008 “Air Purifier” is the recommended national standard, it is currently the most concerned standard. In 2013, the Standardization Committee of Home Appliances Organization organized a second revision of this standard and this year. The last revision seminar was held in June and a 'draft for review' has been formed."

"Electrical" reporter has learned, GB / T 18801-2008 main amendments "air purifier" There are five major areas: increasing the scope of application of air conditioning and car air purifier with air purification function; adds definitions of the target pollutants (such as solid particles, formaldehyde, etc.), rated state, standby state, standby power, attenuation rate of clean air, and applicable area; technical requirements specify that the release amount of harmful substances (such as ultraviolet and ozone) must meet GB 4706.45 and GB 21551.3 requirements, standby power is less than 2W, the clean energy efficiency and noise indicators have been adjusted; the test method is more detailed, the test method for the release of harmful substances and standby power is increased, the test method and the life test method for the clean air volume (ie, the rate of decay of clean air) has been supplemented. The test method for the new standard is to emphasize that the CADR value is the main indicator for determining the capacity of air purifiers; for the appendix, the test and evaluation methods for the clean air volume CADR are included in the appendix. Appendix B (particulates), Appendix C (gaseous pollutants), and in the evaluation of gaseous pollutants (Appendix C) Revised the evaluation method of purification capacity, and also added Appendix E area estimation method (A=0.15×CADR).

Lu Jianguo stressed in particular that assessing the actual effects of an air purifier, clean air volume decay rate, standby power, standby status, noise, etc. are all key indicators, and that the previously used area of air purifiers should be used as a reference indicator. The purpose is to provide users with the basis for selection.

Controversy focused

For the revision of this national standard, the representatives of air purifiers were very fierce and discussions focused on three aspects. First of all, some companies hope to complete the revision work of GB/T 18801 as soon as possible. It is recommended that at least the transition period between the old and new standards be set aside for the enterprises to handle factory and commercial inventory. Companies with more product models, such as Philips and Sharp, attach particular importance to this.

Secondly, with regard to the revised content of GB/T 18801, the opinions of enterprises mainly focus on the noise, the labeling of the applicable area, and the verification of some test methods. Most companies emphasized the importance of noise indicators for air purifiers and considered it necessary to impose strict requirements on this indicator. Sharp officials pointed out that the current national standards stipulate that the noise standard for products with a CADR value above 450 is 70 dB. “At present, the CADR value of home air purifiers on the market is mainly around 300, but with the change in consumer demand, it is likely that products with CADR values between 600 and 800 or more will occur in the future, and noise values will need to be implemented at that time. Finer divisions to differentiate product performance, or separate provisions for commercial and consumer products."

Regarding the applicable area, some companies proposed that the newly revised GB/T 18801 specifies the recommended algorithm for the applicable area in the appendix, but it does not stipulate whether it must be specified. Some companies think that the revision of the indicator or the new test method proposed in the amendment of GB/T 18801 leaves too little experimental verification time for the company. In such a short period of time, the company cannot confirm the scientificness of the new indicators and test methods. And rationality.

“If the revised version mandates the purification life value (expressed in hours) under an experimental condition, it is likely to lead to an unreasonable frequency of replacement of the filter element by consumers in real life.” A participant who declined to be named suggested that the label be purified. The lifetime (in hours) is replaced with the attenuation rate of the marked amount of clean air for reference by consumers.

Third, there is controversy over the coordination of national and local standards among air purifiers. In 2013, the sampling incidents caused by Shanghai Local Standard DB31/622-2012 “Air Purifier Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Ratings” caused many mainstream brands to be named, and some media were labeled “unqualified” hats. , caused public questioning the performance of air purifiers. Many business executives admitted frankly: "GB/T 18801-2008 "air purifier" revision work has not yet been completed, the local standards are not very clear, the company is very difficult to sandwich." Sharp responsible person in response, in the actual operation process , Local spot checks, publication of results, and media communications are all very confusing. “Some relevant agencies are unclear about which indicators are mandatory and which are recommended. Regardless of which standards and test methods the company actually adopts, these agencies announce the results of sampling or commissioning tests as 'nonconforming'. It is not only unfair to the company but also creates cognitive difficulties for consumers."

On this issue, the "Electrical" reporter specifically called Shen Hao, chief engineer of Shanghai Environmental Protection Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Station. He said that in Shanghai, where there are local mandatory standards for air purifiers, regardless of which standard is referenced on the outer packaging of products, the Shanghai Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Bureau will use mandatory indicators in local standards when sampling. quasi. "Only the fourth chapter of the DB31/622-2012 "Air Purifier Energy Efficiency Limit Value and Energy Efficiency Rating" is mandatory, including: the air purifier standby power ≤ 2.0W, and the air purifier energy efficiency ratio measured value should not be If less than 2.50m3/(W·h), the energy efficiency ratio of the air purifier should not be less than 90% of the nominal value. The rest of the sections are recommended standards, and the applicable area is not within the mandatory range.”
